Leadership that listens

Darnell Holston will put people over politics and listen to every voice in District 84.

We deserve a representative who will make our community’s needs their top priorities. House District 84 succeeds when families can afford to live here, children receive a strong education, workers earn fair wages, seniors, the unhoused and veterans are respected, and neighborhoods are safe. We may come from different walks of life — but we share this district and its future. We hope and pray that you join our movement. Let’s get to work!

Meet Darnell

O. Darnell Holston is a small business owner, devoted husband, proud father, and lifelong son of District 84.

Raised in the Jacksonville community, Darnell’s roots in Aiken County run deep. Darnell is the son of a retired public school teacher, Elvira Evon C. Holston, and a retired shipping clerk, Otis S. Holston. His parents instilled the deep faith and values that shaped his strong work ethic and belief in dedication, perseverance, and community service. From an early age, he learned that anything worth achieving requires commitment and integrity.

A graduate of Midland Valley High School and the University of South Carolina Aiken, Darnell has served as a teacher and coach. These roles strengthened his commitment to mentorship, education, and helping young people reach their full potential. He later worked as the Assistant Director of Athletic Ticket Sales at Duke University. While at Duke, Darnell met and engaged with countless business owners, which kindled his desire to become an entrepreneur. He founded his own business, Ivory Logistics. As a small business owner, he experiences first-hand the challenges facing other local employers and working families.

Darnell is married to Tiffany Freeman Holston and father to three amazing children.

Issues

SC House District 84 is built on faith, hard work, strong families, and community pride. While we may belong to different parties, we all want the same things: affordable living, good schools, safe neighborhoods, and a future our children can count on.

I am running to represent everyone in District 84 — not only Democrats, Republicans and Independents. We are more than the D, R and I by our names. We are one community.

  • LOWER COSTS FOR FAMILIES
The cost of living keeps going up for families in District 84. I’m committed to finding solutions that will make life more affordable. I’ll work to lower taxes — like the state income tax — so you keep more money in your pocket. And I’ll always support ways to lower costs placed on consumers.
  • INVESTMENTS IN INFRASTRUCTURE & RESPONSIBLE DEVELOPMENT
We must repair our roads so that people can get to work safely and spend less time stuck in traffic. Right now, some road projects move quickly, while others — like the Old Storm Branch Road Bridge — drag on for years, with no clear explanation and no accountability. That’s not right. We cannot pick winners and losers in our community. Every neighborhood deserves safe, reliable roads. We must invest in infrastructure—especially in rural areas—including reliable broadband internet and clean, affordable water and sewer services. As our area grows, we need to invest in what working families actually use every day. That’s how we protect our quality of life and create good-paying jobs right here at home.
  • SUPPORT FOR OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS
As a graduate of Aiken County public schools and a father to three kids, I know the power of education. Every child deserves a high-quality public education and a clear path to a fulfilling career. I support better funding for our public schools, making college more affordable, and investing in workforce development programs so that our citizens can succeed in the jobs of the 21st century.
  • EXPANDED ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE
Everyone deserves access to high-quality, affordable health care, but that is not always the case for people in District 84 — especially folks who live in rural areas. We must support local health care providers as they reach patients in rural areas, expand Medicaid to provide insurance coverage for more families, and provide affordable mental health care initiatives to treat conditions that are too often overlooked.
